People Sketchin'

A collection of sketches of friend, peers, and random interesting folks! In character design class we were challenged to draw as many different type of people as possible, to inspire us to create interesting and diverse characters.

It was so much fun exploring new styles and techniques! More people sketches and updates as I head into winter break! Happy holidays everyone.

The Leader

The story of a little knight on his first big adventure!

This is my first storyboarding assignment for the year, and it was so much fun to complete. I very much enjoy storyboarding and hope to make it a big part of my career in the animation industry. Can't wait to start on the next project!

Inking at the Zoo

Tried out a new inking technique at the zoo. I really wanted to loosen up my drawings and create something graphic and interesting, so I pulled out my brush pen and went to work.

I love the art of Al Hirschfeld, and while I drew I tried to keep his technique and style in mind.Using the brush pen forced me to be incredibly simple and communicate with as few lines as possible.
These turned out pretty well and I will definitely be using more ink in the future!

Zoo Trip 9.29.13

Scribbles from my trip to the zoo yesterday. It was a great time with great friends; we were all relieved to finally get to draw for ourselves and not for a grade.

Character Development Sketches: Rin

Some early development sketches I did yesterday. I am continuing work on a feudal Japan set story, either based on "Lone Wolf and Cub" or on a Japanese fairytale.

My two main characters will be an older brother and younger sister, and their relationship will drive the story. I don't draw a lot of little kids, so this is new for me. Rin's design may change a lot over time, but I though these doodles were worth further investigation.

Critique and criticism always wanted.

Vanilla Run Cycle

Quick run cycle, still learning the basics. I followed a tutorial on this one, but tried to push the weight and force of movement that I felt was lacking in the tutorial run. Hopefully soon I will have the technical skills to do more stylized runs and walks.

In two weeks, I am starting 3D animation classes with a veteran Disney animator, and I am so excited! I can't wait to enhance my skills and do some real character animation.
